  • Space Mechanism Design:

    • Designed and optimized space mechanisms to operate under space conditions (outgassing, large temperature ranges, cold welding). Ensured the designs were manufacturable and aligned with material and production constraints.

    • Learned about space tribology and advanced manufacturing methods specific to aerospace applications.

  • Simulations and Analysis:

    • Conducted thermal, vibrational, and structural simulations using ANSYS Mechanical and ANSYS Thermal, focusing on space radiative loads and structural integrity.

    • Used finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate vibrational and thermal behavior, and optimized meshing strategies for accurate simulations and efficient computation.

  • Procurement for Prototyping:

    • Helped manage the procurement of 3D printed parts and electronic components for an open-source prototype. Ensured the timely delivery of quality parts compatible with design specifications.
